We collect the following personal information when you register or book a session:

• Identity data: Full name, date of birth, gender.
• Contact data: Email address, phone number.
• Session data: Messages you send to counsellors, booking history, and appointment details.
• Account data: Password (stored as a one-way hash — we never see your plain-text password).
• Usage data: Pages visited, browser type, IP address, and device information collected automatically via server logs.

We do not collect payment card details directly. Payments are processed by our payment provider and governed by their privacy policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account and bookings.
• To share relevant booking details with the counsellor you have selected.
• To send booking confirmations, reminders, and meeting links via email.
• To respond to your enquiries and provide customer support.
• To improve the quality and functionality of our platform.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We will never sell your personal information to third parties or use it for unsolicited marketing without your explicit consent.

4. Sharing Your Information

• With your counsellor: Your name, contact details, message, and selected time slot are shared with the counsellor you book.
• With payment processors: Transactional data required to process your payment.
• With legal authorities: Where required by Sri Lankan law or court order.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at hello@mycounsellor.lk. We may retain certain records for up to 7 years to comply with legal and financial obligations.

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
